The 2024 Studio Upgrade Kicks Off!

New Desk, Killer Gear, Better Sound

2023 was a great year for the studio, so to kickstart another, it was time for an upgrade. I focused on improving both the functionality of my workspace and the overall sound. Here are the updates so far!

• The Desk Makeover:

  • My old Output Platform had served me well, but I needed more rack space and a smaller footprint. That's where Chunky Studio Furniture: https://chunkystudiofurniture.co.uk came in. Guy helped me design the perfect custom desk. Now I have more space for the hardware units I want to add, and my speakers can sound their best.

• Hardware Stars:

  • The Trinnov Nova has been a total game-changer! It's completely balanced my listening environment, making mastering and mixing even more precise. That accurate low-end translation is crucial for competing commercially... from your phone to a club system, the mixes and masters will sound their best.

  • The Thermionic Culture Phoenix Mastering Plus Compressor.... The warmth and depth it adds to my analog mastering chain is extremely tough to replicate digitally and I'm hooked on it already!

  • There's one more piece of gear on its way that I'm stoked about (should arrive in June). More on that soon...

• Space Matters

  • A simple swap of the piano and the synth station has opened up the room. It feels more spacious, and makes it more inviting to play the piano, which has featured on a lot of recordings.
